BUILDING work for dozens of new homes in Slough is nearing completion.

Work for 73 new homes at Milestone in Ledgers Road is set to be completed in the summer, and councillor James Swindlehurst, commissioner for neighbourhoods and renewal, was pleased with the progress being made.

He said: “Both as a planning authority and increasingly now as a builder in our own right, the council is committed to providing more affordable homes for local people, despite the challenging lack of space to build in the borough.

"We have built 264 new homes in the past year alone, and 1,000 more are currently under construction - including the new homes at Milestone and at Castleview in Upton.

“We have also launched a 'call for sites' to work with residents to identify land where a change of use could supply new housing.

“The Milestone development at Ledgers Road is significant because it is the first residential development to be built by our regeneration partnership - Slough Urban Renewal.

"It is exciting to finally see our political commitment being turned into real bricks and mortar - and I look forward to seeing the finished homes.”

The development includes a mixture of one and two bedroom apartments, and two and three bedroom houses. Help to Buy will be available for those interested in purchasing.
