SLOUGH'S Conservative Party have voted in its leader and deputy leader, following a meeting on Monday evening.
Cllr Wal Chahal, Upton ward, remains the leader of the party while cllr Rayman Bains, also Upton, has been voted in as the new deputy leader, taking over from cllr Dexter Smith, Colnbrook with Poyle.
Cllr Bains said: "It's a privilege and a great responsibility to take on this role which i will fulfill with the best of my ability for my party and my town.
"I want to help the Slough Conservative party deliver a town fit for all and give Slough a modern compassionate Conservative Council that is right for our town and works for its residents.
"In contrast to Labour party that seems to look out for their own interests as demonstrated by their current civil war.
"I'd like to thank my Conservative colleagues for their support, especially Cllr Wal Chahal and our chairman and outgoing deputy leader Dexter Smith, who admirably stepped aside to give me this opportunity."
