A FUN-FILLED afternoon was had by volunteers and their families.

In recognition of Volunteer's Week at the start of the month, Slough Refugee Support (SRS) hosted a big Volunteer Thank You Party to show its appreciation to all the volunteers that help keep it going, at its premises in Bath Road, Slough.

The guest enjoyed food and drinks before tucking into a delicious cake.

Around 40 people attended and the volunteers were all presented certificates Jean Kelly, chair of the board of trustees, for their hard work and dedication to the role.

Adeel Ahmed, a volunteer at SRS since January, said: "It was about thanking the volunteers. Without them the charity would not be able to run."

The event was also hoped to promote the charity and encourage more people to get on board for a good cause.

The charity was launched 19 years ago and is committed to supporting asylum seekers and refugees in Slough. It organises events throughout the year and plans to hold a Teddy Bear's Picnic for children in the area in August.
