FOOTBALL superstars from one of the most famous teams in the world visited Slough for the grand opening of a new car dealership.

Gonzalo Higuain and Andrea Barzagli from Italian champions Juventus were in the town on Saturday for the opening of Thames Jeep in Bath Road.

The duo, who were in England to take part in Juve's match against West Ham United on Sunday, took part in the football themed open day at the site, which has undergone a complete refit following its transformation into a Jeep main dealer.

Sanjay Sobte, managing director, Thames Jeep, said: “We have been looking forward to the opening of the Jeep franchise in Slough, and what better way to do that than with two of the best footballers in the world?

"It was an honour to welcome players from such a famous club as Juventus to our site, and I know our customers appreciated it too.”

Jeep is the main shirt sponsor of Juventus, for whom Argentinian forward Higuain has just signed for around £75m from Napoli, making him the most expensive player to transfer between two teams from the same country.

Giorgio Ricci, Head of Global Partnerships and Corporate Revenues of Juventus, said: “It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to play a friendly against a great club like West Ham United and to take part into an event organised by our main sponsor in a market as important as the UK."

Higuain and Italian defender Barzagli met with guests, signed autographs and posed for pictures with fans, who also enjoyed a barbecue, face painting and competitions to win Juventus shirts, footballs and match tickets.
