DATCHET VILLAGE continued with their strong start to the season after taking all three points in a high-scoring 8-5 win away at The Swan Burnham on Sunday.

In a back and forth match, Datchet found themselves ahead and then behind on a couple of occasions before finally running out winners and moving to the top of the Premier Division table.

Barry Dunbar kept up his superb scoring run of late with six goals, whilst Jon Britcher and Spencer Taffurelli bagged the other two.

Dunbar unsurprisingly picked up the man of the match award.

Datchet reserves and third team had the same result in different cups, going down 4-1 to Merrymakers Old Boys and BAA Heathrow.

In both matches, Datchet had chances to stay in the game but sadly injury and fatigue cost them against decent sides.

Tom Stacey scored for the reserves in round two of the Bob Smith Trophy, whilst Dan Boateng was on target for the third team in the Mary Wells Memorial Cup second round.

Shepherds Hut were beaten 8-2 in the Tony Blay Memorial Trophy and a second round tie away at Pinkneys Green.

The difference in class between the two sides was obvious from the off and within 15 minutes The Hut were four goals behind. Stand-in keeper Luke Fogarty was beaten from outside his area with three deflected shots and a wonder goal.

Pinkneys Green added another two goals before the half-time interval, but The Hut improved in the second-half as Greg Sanderson won the ball and lifted it to Ryan Horn who beat two players and blasted in.

The hosts responded as Sanderson slipped on a free-kick which was then played over to the left wing who fired into the top corner.

Man of the match Tommy Horn then beat three players from centre back and hit the bar, before Horn scored a fine goal, beating a player in midfield and blasting home from the edge of the area.

Pinkneys Green added one final goal to complete the scoring.
