A WOMAN who died in the early hours after getting into difficulties in the Thames near a racecourse, has been named.

Lesley Anne McGrath, 48, died on Tuesday, July 11 at Windsor Racecourse Marina in Maidenhead Road. Her funeral notice said she had died in a ‘tragic accident’ and her ceremony was held on Monday in Easthampstead.

Mrs McGrath was from Rickamore Brea in Temple Patrick, Northern Ireland, The Observer was told this week, and it is understood she was visiting friends from Slough in the area when the tragedy happened.

Her inquest was opened on Tuesday.

South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) had arrived at the scene around 12.16am but found members of the public had already pulled Mrs McGrath from the water. However, despite their best efforts to administer life support, she was declared dead at the scene.
