The Youth Employability charity, Learning to Work, is searching for a new home following the closure of Slough’s Horlicks factory by Glaxo-SmithKline.

The charity works to provide young people with work experience, careers events, and apprenticeships in order to help them in the transition between education and employment. They work with over 25,000 young people aged 14 to 19 each year.

Learning to Work’s CEO, Nancy Lalor, is appealing for help finding another business to relocate to. She said: “It’s early days yet, but we’re still looking and negotiating.”

The charity, that employs 20 people, was based in the Horlicks factory and used its location in a busy factory to get young people involved in the business world through involvement in Glaxo-SmithKline.

Mrs Lalor spoke warmly of her former landlord. She said: “Glaxo-SmithKline has been fantastic the whole 22 years we’ve been here, and have been very understanding to us.”

Mrs Lalor said she wished to remain in Slough due to the links she had built up with local business. Any business willing to provide them with a new home is asked to call 01753 502384 or email n.lalor@learningtowork.org.uk
