RESIDENTS of Upton Road and Parkside Walk are being consulted on a new permit parking zone.

The four-week long consultation by Slough Borough Council was begun following complaints about the lack of parking for residents on the roads. Shoppers frequently compete with residents for parking space on these stretches of road.

Slough Borough Council also stated that a number of abandoned vehicles had also increased the pressure on spaces.

Slough Brough Council intends to remove single yellow lines on stretches of the road to create additional room, then impose a resident’s parking permit.

They also intended to add double yellow lines to improve visibility and access at certain key junctions.

A parking permit scheme will free up space for residents, but comes at a price. Only two permits can be held per property, with the first costing £25 and the second costing £50 for one year.
