MOUNTAIN Bikers took on a night race challenge at Black Park on Saturday, September 9.

The seventh annual Knobbly Tread Night Race was hosted by the West Drayton Mountain Biking Club, which has members from across Uxbridge, Iver and the West London area.

Fifty-three riders attempted the night-time race, which was subdivided into various age and gender categories.

Organiser and keen mountain biker Gosia McPherson, 49, said: “Night racing is very fun, even though your vision is restricted. You have other riders to chase, as well as a lamp, although it usually fades by the end of the three to four laps.

“Its a totally different atmosphere to a day race, its lovely to ride in the dark.”

The Men’s Open was won by Sam Edwards who completed five laps in one hour 25 minutes.

The Women’s Open was won by Charlotte Cumming, who completed four laps in one hour, 18 minutes.
