A YOUNG dancer has participated in a worldwide synchronised dance event, that could go in the Guinness World Records.

Dhanushika Muralikrishnan, 10, of Clifton Road, Slough, joined hundreds of other UK dancers in a civic centre, to perform a synchronised routine alongside 50,000 dancers globally.

Dhanushika said: “I was doing my national dance - big thanks to my dance teacher and the other dancers. My name goes in the Asian World Record, and I get a certificate as well. I was practising really hard for the dance, I had to do it for 12 minutes without any mistakes.

“The dance was about farming, to pay tribute to the farmers that bring us food every day.”

The dance event took place in the Harrow Civic Centre, London, on December 31. Dhanushika joined a number of other dancers from her dance school, Sesha Natiya Nikhetan, which is headquartered in High Wycombe and has branches in Slough and Maidenhead.

A dance teacher at Sesha Natiya Nikhetan, Ananya Ainkaran, said: “The main dance event is initiated from Tirupur, India to thank the contribution by farmers to this world. It was heartening to be part of such a big worldwide event that required a great degree of coordination at the artistic and administrative level to make it a grand success.”

Dhanushika’s mother, Chandrika Subramanian, 30, said: “I’m very proud of her, this will be a remarkable thing for her career.” The event has already been inducted into the Asian Book of Records.
