WORKS are underway to create a new community space.

The Manor Park Pavilion, (also known as Manor Park Hall) in Villiers Road, Slough is currently being refurbished to create a new community meeting room that will be available to hire. The site was formerly the home of Slough’s Age Concern branch.

Slough Borough Council (SBC) held a consultation in the Manor Park area last year to determine what community facilities people would like to see – and they say a popular request was more space that could be hired out for community events, parties and meetings.

The rear of the building is to be turned into a large meeting room with its own kitchen, with community organisation The Ujala Foundation being based in the front of the building. Works are expected to conclude early this summer.

Leo Masood, buildings and projects manager at SBC, said: “We ran a consultation in Manor Park last year, and overwhelmingly residents said they would really like more space to hire for community events. Now along with the community centre, the pavilion will give more options to people who need space for their events.

“I am really looking forward to opening this facility for the community in early summer.”
