CHURCH has been given a major funding boost.
St Nicholas’ Church, Taplow, has been given a £1,500 grant from the Allchurches Trust.
The grant puts the church one step closer to their £75,000 target for their Southside Appeal, which aims to raise the funds needed to carry out vital restoration work on their south roof and wall.
Phil Taylor, of St. Nicolas’ Church, said: “On the south roof, tiling has failed in places and this has meant some of the main roof beams have suffered damage from getting wet.
“The rainwater measures on this side of the church are also at the end of their life and this is causing structural damage, particularly to the south wall, which will only get worse.
“The Southside project is vital to ensure that our church continues to provide a focus for Christian care, ministry and mission now and for future generations.”
James Laing, Director of grants at the Allchurches Trust, said: “We’re pleased to have been able to provide funding to help the congregation of St Nicolas restore the beautiful Church at the heart of their community in Taplow, which will also benefit children from the local school, who use the church on a regular basis, the local playgroup, and the many community groups who access the facilities at the church.”
The church is planning a number of fundraising events over the coming months to help raise the much-needed funds, the closest event being a recital by St Nicolas’ Quartet on July 15 at 3pm, inside the church. Refreshments will be served after the performance.
