A special celebrity guest has helped a Windsor care home celebrate its anniversary on the run up to Christmas.

Residents at Care UK's Mountbatten Grange, on Helston Lane, were surprised by Loose Women's Gloria Hunniford, as the home marked five years since it opened its doors.

Gloria spent time with residents and team members and enjoyed a tour of the home before settling in for a homemade afternoon tea.

The home was decorated with Christmas decorations and balloons to celebrate.

Patricia Friis, aged 91, said “It was a pleasure and lovely surprise to have someone so special take the time to come and celebrate with us, we enjoyed the jokes and listening to her stories.”

Debbie Winwood, Home Manager at Mountbatten Grange, said: “We are all big fans of Gloria Hunniford here at Mountbatten Grange, and the residents were thrilled to have her join in their celebrations.

“The whole team worked hard to organise our birthday bash, and I am delighted to say their efforts paid off.

“It’s certainly been a busy five years. We’ve welcomed some real characters to the home and worked hard to create a homely environment for everyone."

Mountbatten Grange is a care home that provides residential, nursing and short-term respite care, as well as specialist dementia care.
