The opening of a new McDonald’s in Taplow has been confirmed for January 2024 after pushback from residents.

Despite setting its sights on opening a unit in Taplow’s Bishop Centre in late 2022, franchisee Richard Forte has confirmed that this McDonald’s will take over the old Evans Cycles unit.

The restaurant will combine a ‘new layout with the latest technology to create a more seamless enjoyable experience for customers’.

The recently refurbished Friar Street, Reading branch encompassed these features launching McDonald’s ‘Convenience of the future’ design in 2023.

The restaurant giant has said that they will announce the official opening date in early 2024 which will mark the launch of Forte's 31st McDonald's franchise across Berkshire.

Previously a McDonald's spokesperson said: “We are excited to be progressing with our new restaurant in Taplow, which will be opening at the end of November this year.

"The new restaurant will bring significant investment to the local area as well as creating at least 65 full and part-time jobs."

The opening of this McDonald’s has seen pushback over the last few years from both councilors and members of the public.

In October, the Window of the McDonald’s unit had been blacked out as workmen were seen coming and going.
