COUNCILLORS have voiced fears that a village could 'become a housing estate’ if a revised application for housing is given the go-ahead.

Burnham Parish Council planning committee unanimously agreed to recommend South Bucks District Council (SBDC) refuses plans to build two four-bedroom semi-detached houses and two five-bedroom detached houses at land behind 94 and 96 Dropmore Road, at a meeting on Tuesday. The plans, submitted by Dropmore Property Developments Limited, include associated access and parking, and councillors believe the revised application has stemmed from SBDC approving plans for the construction of three detached homes on the site in August last year, despite strong objection from the parish council.

Cllr Marie Hammon said: “We refused it before and I do not know why our minds would change.

“It is the build-up of urban and it is filling in gardens and too many properties with small gardens – it will ruin the land.

“We didn’t want it in the first place and it is the result of the precursor. I will not agree to this – it is appalling.” Cllr Jean Horwood added: “I think they will be overtaking anything and everything and we will lose what Burnham has been, a rural village, and become a housing estate.” A decision is expected by Friday, May 23.
