A LARGE residential development site with planning permission for 27 new homes has been sold to a builder for £5.8m.

Taylor Wimpey has purchased Stoke House, in Grays Park Road, Stoke Poges, for 45% more than the asking price due to the 'huge’ interest in the location.

The site was sold by Legal & General Property (LGP), advised by Colliers International, and the deal comes with planning consent, after South Bucks District Council approved the plans in July last year.

As part of the scheme, the Grade II Listed Stoke House and Coach House will be converted and refurbished into two and one residential units respectively, as well as 24 other units, ranging from two-bed to seven-bed properties.

James Lidgate, head of residential at LGP, said: “Using our team of dedicated sector specialists the successful planning consent was the result of years of hard work behind the scenes to understand the local social and economic dynamics of the area and liaise carefully with both the council and residents to design a scheme that would both complement and support its future direction.” The 5.86 acre site has a blend of Victorian and Georgian architecture, dating back to 1780, with more than 24,000 sq ft of office accommodation across the manor house and interconnecting pavilion.

Along with the refurbishment of the two listed buildings, a vacant 1980s office annex will be demolished to make way for the new homes.
