Pub staff braved a burning firewalk over hot coals in a bid to raise money for charity.

Staff at Enterprise Inns’ The Stag and Hounds, in Church Road, Iver Heath, braved the heat and managed to raise more than £3000 for Little Heroes Cancer Trust, a children’s cancer charity, David Lindsay, pub manager, took on the challenge alongside 16 others to raise vital funds.

The Stag and Hounds was recently presented with a trophy by Colin Nesbitt, the charity’s chief executive, for being among the top 10 pubs that has raised the most funds for the cause in 2014.

Mr Lindsay said: “The event was a fantastic night and brought the whole community together.

“It was nerve-wracking, but the adrenaline and cheering crowd helped a lot.

“It was a brilliant experience and we’re delighted with the funds raised for the charity.” The pub is family-friendly, serving traditional ales and a full menu throughout the week.

It also hosts a calendar of charity events throughout the year.

Stephen Folbigg, Enterprise regional manager said: “Fundraising events like this demonstrate how a well-run pub can be a central part of the community. “This is the first event of an exciting year ahead for everybody involved with the Stag and Hounds.

“It’s great to know that the money raised is going to such an excellent cause.”
