Slough's Queensmere and Observatory shopping centres are hosting their first ever Christmas Lights Switch On event this Thursday between 4pm and 6pm.

The event will be hosted by Ray Siddique of Asian Star and Nate Simpson from this year's X Factor TV show will be performing. There will also be entertainment from local singer Jamika Sutton and the panto being staged at The Curve this December.

There will also will be Father Christmas in attendance and Dali The Clown will be entertaining visitors. A colouring in table will be there to keep the children happy.

The lights will be switched on at 6pm.

The announcement of the event at Queensmere and Observatory follows the news that the two centres have been bought for £130million by a subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority It will mean that Slough gets two big Christmas light switch on events this year.

Festive fun in the town centre on Saturday (26/11) organised by the Borough Council will start at 1pm and also feature Nate Simpson with a switch on by Santa at 5pm and fireworks and music until 6pm.

There will be Santa in his grotto and face painting.

The event is being held on Saturday for the first time following requests from people in the town.
