A SINGER from Slough could soon be representing the UK at Europe’s most prestigious music competition, the Eurovision song contest.

Nate Simpson, 23, appeared on television series the X Factor last year and his voice was likened to Jesus Christ by former Pussycat Doll, Nicole Sherzinger.

Now Nate hopes his Christ-like voice can take him to Kiev, Ukraine and win the contest for the UK for the first time since Katrina and the Waves won it back in 1997.

Before he can do that, he will have to beat off stiff competition from a host of other X Factor performers.

Currently Bookies have him fifth in a list of six potential candidates, so he will have to pull out all the stops if he is to make it to the Ukraine.

He will appear on the television show Eurovision: You Decide in front of a panel of judges comprising of Bruno Tonioli, Sophie Ellis-Bexter and vocal coach, CeCe Sammy.

His song What are we made of? will feature alongside the five other competitors’ songs on Saturday on BBC2, where a public vote will pick the winning candidate for the UK.

The Eurovision song contest is expected to take place on Saturday, May 13.
