A MOTHER duck and her ducklings who had made a home at Slough Borough Council's HQ this week have had to be swiftly relocated for their own welfare.
The mum was keeping around 15 hatched ducklings at the Bath Road headquarters in a special drainage area which provided shelter. They had popped up over the weekend to the amusement of council staff.
But on Tuesday night tragedy struck - and a number of ducklings sadly did not make it through the cold weather.
A spokesperson for the council said on Tuesday morning: "Some of the ducklings have unfortunately not made it through the night. We took advice from the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) and the RSPCA."
She added that council facility officers were relocating the mother duck and any babies who had been strong enough to survive the night.
