A taxi driver has been targeted in a possible acid attack after an unknown substance was thrown through his open window.
The bizarre incident happened between 10.30pm and 10.45pm last night (Tuesday) as he sat in his car in Thames Street, Windsor, waiting for a fare.
Another vehicle, a white flatbed style van, drove past and the taxi driver felt a substance hit his face.
He felt a burning sensation and noticed some damage had been caused to his window seal.
He washed his face immediately and does not seem to have suffered any lasting effect.
Detective Inspector Jason Kew is leading the investigation and would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the incident.
He said: “This was a distressing incident for the driver, it was fortunate that he was not seriously injured.
"I am keeping an open mind regarding the motive and taking this attack very seriously and therefore would value any information from local people, the Windsor taxi community or passersby in the area at the time.
“I have to stress that this appears to be an isolated incident and is not linked to any other incidents where substances or liquids have been thrown at people.”
