A RAPIST who was caught on a mobile phone attacking his victim, is behind bars.

Tomasz Andrzej Bednarski, 43, of Carmarthen Road, Slough, was sentenced to a minimum of 28 months in jail and banned from entering public parks, at Oxford Crown Court on Friday last week, after pleading guilty to raping a woman in Godolphin Park in July last year. Bednarski was arrested after Thames Valley Police watched mobile phone footage. It showed him forcing himself on a woman, shortly after 7.20pm on Wednesday, July 27, last year, provided by a member of the public.

The victim was only able to provide officers with an account of what happened the following day, stating she had consumed two alcoholic drinks before going to the park on the Wednesday. She recalled saying hello to two men, one of which was Bednarski, who were sat on another bench but has no memory of what happened after drinking more with the men.

Det Cons Leigh Roxburgh, the investigating officer, said: "In court, the judge referred to Bednarksi as a 'sexual predator' who had shown no remorse, and posed a significant risk to the public.

"The victim was in no state to consent to anything and Bednarksi clearly took advantage of her.

"Thankfully, incidents of this nature are very rare in Slough."
