Emma Flint achieved an incredible 12 A*s, as 96.5% of Slough Grammar School pupils scored five A* to C grades.

The 16-year-old, who also got an A in an AS-level French exam she took a year early, said: "I have worked really, really hard and I'm so happy with my results. The deal was if I got 10 A*s my family would buy me an iPad - so I'm delighted!"

The school, in Lascelles Road, had 64.5% of pupils achieving more than five A* to C grades, including English and maths, and 46% of got five or more A* to A grades.

Mercedes Hernández Estrada, headteacher, said: "Slough Grammar School is very pleased to contradict the headlines in the national press regarding the attainment of pupils in this year's GCSE results and English in particular.
