PLANS to build a mosque and Islamic community centre were passed last night.

Charity Dawat-e-Islami will move into Langley Village Club, in Cheviot Road - subject to the developers agreeing to planning conditions.

They included a 300 person limit at the centre - which would hold prayers and community classes.

Councillor Christine Small, who lives in the estate, said: "My concern is somebody is going to die. This is not about race or religion, it's about our safety."

Applicant Waqas Choudhery said residents' concerns were 'exaggerated', adding: "This is a much-required facility for local residents."
