SCORES of beleaguered residents have been left with heaps of rubbish dumped outside their homes after a company paid to manage the maintenance of their housing development has seemingly vanished.

Residents living in blocks of flats in Windmill Road, Slough, claim rubbish including old mattresses and discarded carpet has been piling up outside their properties since October last year.

They say they are still paying for the maintenance works, which should be carried out by Metro (Slough) Management Company. But claim the company, which they say was set up by residents who lived in the flats, has vanished and can not be contacted.

Thames Valley Housing Association (TVHA), which owns and manages three blocks within the development, says it has had to pick up the bill to clear the rubbish and is now considering legal action against the company.

Residents pay their service charges to TVHA which in turn pays Metro to do the maintenance.

A TVHA spokeswoman told The Observer: “Metro (Slough) Management Company is the land owners and estate managers of the site and therefore responsible for grounds maintenance. Every attempt we have made to speak with them on this matter has failed. We are currently seeking legal advice on the best way forward.

“We appreciate that this issue has been protracted and is frustrating for residents, and are making every effort to keep them updated with our progress.” The trading address for Metro is listed as a flat in Windmill Road. Companies House lists its directors as Karen Muhammad and Andrew Brown.

But records show the company has not filed accounts since at least July 2012, and Companies House is proposing to strike the company off and dissolve it.

When The Observer tried to contact Metro a landline number listed in a phone directory was no longer active.

A mobile number attributed to the company on various other websites was answered by a Windmill Road resident, who said he has nothing to do with Metro and has no idea why his number has been published.

He said he has also tried to contact the company to get it removed, but could not get through to anyone.

A Slough Borough Council spokesman said litter clearance notices have been served against two individuals from the company.
