HOLLYWOOD star Ricky Gervais is set to make a new movie focused on his Slough-based office creation.
The lead character of The Office, David Brent, is set to appear in his own movie as a spin-off from the hit comedy, which was based around fictional Slough paper company Wernham Hogg.
The film, entitled Life on the Road, will follow Brent as he embarks on a self-financed UK music tour, taking time out from his job as a sales rep, and finds out what he has been doing in the years since his redundancy from Wernham Hogg.
A statement read: “He [Brent] thinks it’ll be like Scorsese filming the Rolling Stones, but it turns out to be a 'where are they now?’ documentary. He has to take a few weeks off work and cash in a couple of pensions, because the session musicians in the band are costing him more than he’s getting in ticket sales. Tragic.” The film is being developed with BBC Films and will go into production in 2015. It will be filmed in the UK and distributed worldwide.
