A LETTINGS agency director who conned a couple out of thousands of pounds has been jailed.

Bola Adeyoola, 57, formerly of Goughs Barn Lane, Bracknell, was sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to fraud by abuse of position.

It relates to a Hampshire couple buying three properties in Slough which they let out via agency Sterling, based in Windsor Road, Slough, between 2002 and 2003.

Towards the end of 2004, Adeyoola told the couple he had taken over the lettering agency and would be dealing with their properties. In 2005 the pair bought another home, and shortly after this were told the agency’s name had changed to Graceview.

In February 2006 four cheques to the couple from the company, for payment of rent, bounced. When questioned Adeyoola said the bank accounts changeover had caused the error, but it became a regular occurrence over the next few years, police said.

They say Adeyoola became increasingly deceptive and avoided contact with the couple. Detective Sergeant Ash Mohmood, officer in the case, said: “This has been a very complex and lengthy investigation which has spanned a number of years.

“I am pleased that this case has finally concluded and hope that the sentence will go some way in supporting the victims who I know have found the whole process extremely draining both mentally and physically.” “Adeyoola has agreed that he owes the couple in excess of £60,000.

“A Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) process is now underway to identify his assets which can be used to pay back his victims.
