THESE pictures give motorists a glimpse of how two major road junctions will look after congestion-easing work has been completed.

The artists’ impressions of Tuns Lane and Windsor Road were released by Slough Borough Council on Tuesday.

The improvement plans were given the green light by the council’s cabinet in December.

Both will be partly widened, junctions upgraded and given new signals. There will also be better pedestrian crossings and infrastructure for buses.

The Tuns Lane junctions at the Copthorne roundabout will be changed into a hamburger-style design - similar to the roundabout near Sainsbury’s. Work is expected to begin in summer and finish in Autumn next year.

The council says a recent consultation showed residents are mostly supportive of both schemes. The works are being funded by the £7.1m handed over from the Thames Valley Berkshire Local Enterprise Partnership from the £96.9m pot it was given by Government for transport schemes.

The council will need to pump in an extra £3.1m from its general funds and local transport agreements.
