A ‘VIOLENT and dangerous man’ who killed his wife after returning home from dropping off their four children at school has pleaded guilty to her murder.

Imran Sharif, 44, of Hillersdon in Slough, pleaded guilty to one count of murder at Reading Crown Court today in relation to the death of his wife Raheela Imran, 45, at their home in Hillersdon on October 20 last year.

On the day of the killing, Sharif had dropped his four children off at their respective schools, like any normal day, and murdered his wife of 17 years in the kitchen of the family home.

Adrian Foster, Chief Crown Prosecutor for Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), said: “Leaving her dead on the kitchen floor he changed his clothes, concealed his blood stained clothes under the driver’s seat in his car, concealed the murder weapon, which has never been found, and went to work.” Mrs Imran’s family became concerned about her and eventually her brother went to the house, found the front door ajar and made the gruesome discovery of his sister’s body.

Sharif was arrested on the same day and charged with murder on October 23.

Mr Foster added: “Having been charged with his wife’s murder and while on remand at Bullingdon Prison, Sharif confided in another prisoner, who he had known for about 12 years, and admitted killing his wife. He is clearly an extremely violent and dangerous man.” Sharif was due to stand trial after pleading not guilty, but subsequently changed his plea on Wednesday (18/3). He has been remanded in custody after entering his plea and will be sentenced on May 5 at Reading Crown Court.

Mr Foster added: “This case represents a tragedy for the family of Raheela. Her children, family and friends have been devastated by her untimely death. We know that nothing will bring Raheela back to her children, family and friends, but we hope that today’s conviction brings them at least a small sense that justice has been done. Our thoughts are very much with them all at this time.” Investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Mike Lynch said: “I am glad that Sharif has accepted responsibility for what he did and admitted today that he took his wife’s life.

“This has been an incredibly difficult time for Raheela’s family and friends as they try to come to terms with their loss and although it may offer them little comfort, I hope that Sharif’s guilty plea will be of some help as they begin to rebuild their family’s lives.”
