A TAPLOW woman raised hundreds of pounds for a good cause as she ran alongside thousands of fundraisers in a 10km race.

Joelle Pugh took part in the Vitality British 10k in London, raising money for Wellbeing of Women, a charity that invests in the future health of women and their babies.

She said: “I really enjoyed the run and Vitality make it a fun experience with all the music and entertainment and the bonus of running around the iconic landmarks without cars.

"It's a special experience and knowing I was running for Wellbeing of Women kept me motivated. I wore their vest with great pride.

"I have already raised £400 and am expecting the total to rise to at least £500 for the charity and would like to thank everyone who has donated to this very worthy cause.”

The mother of two was among thousands of runners who took part in the race on Sunday, July 10.

Sophie Edgerley-Harris, from Wellbing in Women, said: “We were absolutely delighted and very grateful Joelle selected Wellbeing of Women to be the beneficiary for their sponsorship for this race.

"Without the support of people like Joelle, we wouldn’t be able to continue the pioneering research into women’s reproductive health that over the last 50 years has led to so many landmark achievements so many women and their families take for granted today.”

Wellbeing in Women aims to fund early stage, pioneering research to improve diagnosis, develop better treatments and find cures for reproductive health issues.
