LANGLEY FC manager Peter Phillips is set to utilise his squad in order to win a trophy this season.

The Kedermister Park outfit are currently competing for league honours as well as three different cup competitions.

The cup runs mean that Langley - 15 points behind leaders Huntercombe - have games in hand on all of their title rivals.

Phillips admits that he would rather have the points on the board but is adamant his team have already proven themselves.

And the Langley boss is happy to promote players into the first team in order to stay in the race for the title.

Speaking to the Observer, Phillips said: “We have fallen behind in the league because of the cup runs we’ve been on.

“We could be the downfalls of our own success and playing multiple games a week isn’t ideal, but we’ve got a fit squad.

“Our pre-season was based around fitness and if we stay injury-free we should be fine with a big enough squad.

“It will give opportunities for the young reserves team to fill in. Everyone will have a part to play.

“I would like to win the league and at least one cup, that is how confident we are.

“The belief comes from the squad itself, our changing room is rocking before a game now.

“It shows that we’re doing something right to fight on three cup fronts, and compete in the league.” Phillips continued: “With all the games in hand we could go top, but I would rather have points on the board.

“I am still quietly confident and the Huntercombe game was a real turning point for us.

“We made four new signings afterwards and they’re a massive coup for us. We’re focused and just need to put a run together.

“If you look at our run afterwards, we’re unbeaten apart from losing against players who get paid in the Berks & Bucks Cup.

“We will take it one game at a time and not worry about the opposition but concentrate on playing attacking and entertaining football.

“The Premier Division is wide open and that is credit to the East Berkshire League this season.” Phillips added: “I would say that Huntercombe and The Lynchpin are favourites but we can definitely mix it at this level.

“We’ve played Iver and Chalvey Sports and beat them, so we’re proven against two quite good sides.

“I am happy with the Iver and Chalvey wins, and we should have beaten Lynchpin.

“We absolutely bombarded them for 90 minutes and they were the first to admit that themselves, but that’s football.

“We dropped points against Maidenhead Magpies in a game that we should’ve won if we took our chances.

“Iver have dropped too many points and Iver Heath have not played the big guns yet.” **PICK up a copy of the Observer, out now, for all the latest sports news and action including more from our exclusive East Berkshire League coverage** **FOLLOW the Observer on Twitter at @Observer_sports**
