SLOUGH Town have honoured physiotherapist Kevin McGoldrick after he completed 30 years of service to the club on Saturday.

McGoldrick came recommended by Alan Davies to then manager Howard Kennedy, with his first game an FA Cup replay against Orient in 1985.

A hugely respected member of the team, he has been with Slough through thick and thin, working with a succession of managers and hundreds of players.

On Saturday, McGoldrick was presented with a special award by chairman Steve Easterbrook, who described ‘Super Kev’ as a remarkable man and very special person.

Easterbrook told the Observer: “In a sport where loyalty is often found wanting, Kevin is one of those rare individuals who has unselfishly dedicated the past 30 years to this club.

“A man who is not only respected by Slough Town, but someone who is highly regarded throughout the whole of non-league football.

“Despite all the ups and downs, despite all the changes in managers and personnel, Kevin has always remained loyal.

“He is a remarkable man, a very special person and this club is very lucky to have him.”

A statement from the club read: “In every organisation there is one person without whom it would not all be possible. That person usually works away quietly behind the scenes and often goes unnoticed for much of the time.

“We all know what sterling work Kevin does on match days, but people rarely see the hours he puts in working with and supporting players day in and day out. And that commitment extends to the club as a whole and football in general, and long may that continue.”

Joint-boss Jon Underwood said: “Kevin is very professional in what he does. He checks up on players after a game and reports right back to us. I’ve never known that level of detail.”
