SLOUGH continued their excellent start to the second half of the season with a 4-3 win over Phoenix & Ranelagh on Saturday.

Having toppled MBB&O Regional Two leaders Banbury 2s 7-5 the previous week, Slough travelled to Reading in a very confident mood.

This was reflected in their general performance, but they had to work hard for the victory over their opponents, who are second from bottom in the table.

Fortunately for Slough, they have a player in red-hot form in Bobbie Bansal. He followed up his hat-trick against Banbury with another two goals.

That takes his tally for the season to 13 goals, leaving him the joint- third highest scorer in the division.

Rai Singh scored the other two goals against Phoenix, his first brace of the season.

Their sixth league win in 13 games lifts Slough to seventh in the table with 18 points.

And the Upton Court Park side will be expected to extend their winning run when they take on Wokingham at home this Saturday.

Their visitors are next to bottom, having lost nine of their 13 games.

Slough lost 2-0 at Wokingham early in the season and it will be a surprise if they fail to gain their revenge.

Ramgarhia Slough have suffered defeat on their return to action from the Christmas break after a 4-1 home loss to Gerrards Cross 3s on Saturday.

Suffering from numerous injuries, Slough fielded a scratch team with a new novice keeper and were well beaten by an impressive Gerrards Cross team.

The visitors, in contrast, fielded a good mixture of youth and experience, and right from the start they attacked Slough with pace. Excellent passing resulted in an early goal from a short corner.

Gerrards Cross extended their lead shortly after with simple passing around the home defence.

Slough eventually found their composure and continued the pressure early in the second period, resulting in a well converted short corner by Sabi Kullar.

However, their resurgence was short lived as Gerrards Cross again extended their lead with another well taken short corner.

As the home team began to tire, Gerrards Cross put the game beyond reach with a fourth well taken goal coming from impressive passing from their young players.

Ramgarhia Slough, still in second place in MBBO Division Eight East, travel to Aylesbury 4s on Saturday hoping to regain winning ways.
