SLOUGH boxing sensation John Brennan hopes to finance a shot at a southern area title after registering the sixth win of his professional career.

Brennan, 30, recorded a unanimous points victory against Devides Sajauka over four rounds at York Hall, Bethnal Green.

“I was happy with the win but a bit frustrated because I made more hard work of it than I should have done,” he told the Observer.

“I hurt him a few times early on and it got me going a bit gung-ho. I stung him every time but then started firing from the trenches and started to drop down to the level that he wanted to fight at.

“I got clipped a few times but quickly got back into my rhythm in rounds three and four, so overall I’m happy with the performance.

“I put punches together well, throwing shots in batches and down the pipeline that caught him every time, but I wasn’t happy with my discipline at times.”

Brennan has already vacated the British Challenge title he won back in October 2015 and the light middle-weight wants to star on the big stage.

“We’re going to try and speak with the southern area panel and work out what the fee would be to fight for it,” he said. “Boxing is a dirty game about finances, so if I put a suggestion forward with a few zeros in it I think they would listen.

“I don’t want to fight small any more, or tick over time, I want to box for the Southern Area title or another belt.”
