YOUNGSTERS from Stoke Park dominate the selections in the England Under-16 Thames Valley regional squads ahead of the 2016/17 training programme.

The historic Buckinghamshire club provides three of the golfers in each of the eight-strong girls’ selection and seven-strong boys’ squad.

Not surprisingly, Conor Gough, 13, who won the English Boys U14 Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship, features in the boys’ squad alongside club mates Tom Gregory, 13, and Taylor Paul, 14, who also showed up well in the August competition.

Thalia Kirby, 15, and Daisy Kennedy, 14, were a part of the Stoke Park ladies’ team that won its fourth successive Bucks Challenge Shield, and their selection in the girls’ squad completes a memorable season for them.

They are joined in the Thames Valley England squad by their club mate Izzy Holmes, 15, who, like each of the other five, is a member of the hugely successful Stoke Park scholarship programme.

Stuart Collier is director of golf at Stoke Park. He said: “Congratulations to all of our scholars who have been selected for the regional squad, the first step towards international recognition.

“They will be following in the footsteps of people like Masters champion Danny Willett, and the world number two amateur lady and three-time Curtis Cup player Bronte Law, both of whom have come through the regional squad system.

"Naturally, everybody at Stoke Park is immensely proud of their achievements, not just with this recognition but for their successes throughout the year.”
