SLOUGH Town joint-manager Neil Baker hopes that his side can spoil the Kings Lynn promotion party in the Southern Premier Division play-off final this season.

The Rebels beat Kettering Town 3-1 in the semi-finals thanks to a goal from Perry Coles and two penalties from leading scorer James Dobson at Arbour Park on Wednesday.

Kings Lynn have the advantage of being the home side in the final having finished runners-up to champions Hereford and a 3-0 semi-finals win against Weymouth in midweek.

Baker admits it will be tough in the final at The Walks on Bank Holiday Monday (3pm), but he explained Slough will give it a real go with promotion into the National League with their reach.

He told the Observer: “You don’t want to go out in a semi-finals. It is something that’s happened to us three times now and it’s not easy.

“You watch with envy as the other sides get prepared for a massive game in the final and you just wish you where a part of it, and now we are.

“Whatever happens on Monday the lads have been absolutely incredible this year.

“To finish on 99 points and score the amount of goals we have, plus the FA Cup second round, and to win on Wednesday in front of a fantastic crowd, it’s been a pretty special season.”

Baker continued: “We will just keep on going because one more game and we could be in dreamland, but it will be really tough.

“We have been to Kings Lynn three times and we’ve lost three times, so we’re underdogs, absolutely no question there.

“Kings Lynn had a comfortable 3-0 win against a very good Weymouth side on Wednesday, but we will go there and have a real go.

“I would expect us to take real good numbers there fans-wise. I know it’s a long way but there will be a lot of people who will looking to travel, similar to Gainsborough and maybe more than that.

“It’s going to be tough and there will be a big crowd, who will be expecting a Kings Lynn promotion, but we will hopefully be there to spoil the party.

“It’s a cup final and you’ve got to try to win the game. There’s no point in going there and sitting back.

“We went there in the league and we played a certain way, and we will go there in the final and play another way.”

“We will just look forward to the match and the build-up now.”
