THE OPENING Chiltern Cross Country League fixture at Shotover Hill in Oxford on Saturday was poorly supported by Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow Athletics Club.
There were no runners whatsoever in the Under 15 and U13 boys races.
The most club athletes contested the senior men’s race with six runners facing the starter. The first to appear was Adam Moore in seventh place, the second U20 athlete home, with a time of 29 minutes and 37 seconds (29.37).
Team captain Simon Millett was next home in 12th place in 30.17, while it was good to see Steve Kimber back in WSEH colours after a two year break, finishing in 32nd place with 31.37.
The senior ladies race saw Dani Barnes-Heeney run well to secure a fine fifth place in 21.52. Juliet Soane had her best run to date to finish 14th in 23.43.
Dan Brookling showed good form in the U17 men’s race finishing in seventh place with 19.52.
Kate Thompson was the lone WSEH athlete in the U17 ladies race but finished in a good eighth position with 15.06.
This weekend the South of England Cross Country Relays take place at Wormwood Scrubs.
