MARK Tallentire believes that Burnham are ready for the start of the new season despite his re-build of the club still in process.
Tallentire has been busy putting together a squad to compete in Southern Division One South & West following The Blues’ relegation from the Premier Division last year.
Their pre-season ended with a 5-0 defeat to Portsmouth in front of over 300 people at The Gore on Tuesday evening, but the summer has stood Burnham in good stead, in the eyes of Tallentire.
He told the Observer: “I think we’re further in front of where I thought we would be at this particular junction because it’s a complete new rebuild here.
“Some of the players are still getting used to one another and that’s half the battle, getting that little bit of commaradere going.
“I think our season will evolve as the season goes on, I’m pretty sure about that, players will come and players will go.
“But I think right now, at this moment in time, we’re ready for the start of the league. There’s enough discipline within our defensive work.
“When we played against teams more allied to our level of football we’ve been pretty competitive, and adding Kane Jones to our front line has changed things because he carries massive threat.
“We’re as ready as we can be.”
