TWO legends in their respective sports will be the guests of honour at a fundraising Gala Dinner next month.

South African Gary Kirsten – the former World No. 1 batsman – and World Cup-winning All Black Zinzan Brooke will lend their support to the Berkshire-based Beaumont Cricket Academy's event at the Kia Oval, London, on Friday, July 23.

Kirsten played 101 test matches and 185 one day internationals for the Proteas, scoring a century against every test-playing nation with a top score of 275 against England in Durban in 1999.

Now regarded as one of the top coaches in the sport, he led India to the 2011 World Cup before returning to his homeland, where he turned South Africa into the number one-ranked side in tests, ODIs and T20.

Kirsten remains an adviser to the Proteas and is also head coach of the Delhi Daredevils IPL franchise.

New Zealand rugby star Brooke was the 18th player to be inducted into the All Blacks Hall of Fame, and is regarded as one of their greatest ever No. 8s.

He played 58 tests for his country along with 42 other games for New Zealand, and when he retired, his haul of 17 test tries was the highest by a forward.

Brooke also captained the Auckland Blues to two Super 12 championships, before playing and coaching Harlequins.

Guests will also be entertained by highly-rated comedian Lester Crabtree, who has worked alongside the likes of Mike Tyson, Bernard Manning and Suzanne Shaw.

Jason Pennisi, from St John's Beaumont School, which runs the Beaumont Cricket Academy, said: "We are hoping for a special evening with two men who have played sport at the very highest level on the international stage.

"They are giants of the game and have some wonderful stories to tell."

This includes a champagne reception atop the Corinthians roof-top terrace on arrival, a three-course meal at a front row table, unlimited wine, a gift plus signed and personalised photos with the hosts, a half-page advert in the event programme and company branding on the big screens inside the venue.
