SHAID Nadeem has told the Observer that he will be stepping down as captain of Burnham CC next season.
Nadeem also revealed that his current vice-captain Harvey Ghandham is the ideal candidate and will succeed him.
"Harvey is a great leader and has done a great job standing in for me as captain a few times already this season. He is the ideal candidate to succeed me when I step down as captain next season," he said.
"I feel Harvey is young and he will bring in fresh ideas and take the team forward in the postive direction it is already heading in."
As if to emphasise Nadeem's point, Ghandham hit an unbeaten 200 on Saturday to take his tally to this season to over 400 runs.
Nadeem has overseen a transformation of Bunham CC from being a Home Counties Premier Cricket Division Two side to being a Division One side.
And he admits it has been a great acheivement to have guided Burnham to the highest achievable division.
He said: "We can't ask for anymore than to be mixing it with semi-professional and professional cricketers, this is by far the best league any of these players can ask to play in."
