FC Thame have won their first-ever piece of silverware after a 2-0 win against Lynchpin in the Slough Town Senior Cup final at The Gore on Good Friday.

East Berkshire Football League representatives Lynchpin boast a 100 per-cent winning record in their league campaign and were on course for a quadruple this season.

There were favourites in the eyes of most people though the Wycombe & District League club turned the odds on there head with a fantastic team performance in front of a 450-strong crowd.

Rain the previous night made for a wet pitch and Thame started slowly but, by the half-time whistle, they had dragged themselves into the contest which had become a midfield battle with few chances.

Into the second-half and the match came alive with Thame firmly taking control.

A wonderful run down the left wing by Ryan Binnee saw him ghost past three players before playing a fantastic ball into captain Shayne Almond, who coolly smashed the ball past the Lynchpin keeper.

Thame then made a couple of changes and it was the two substitutes that combined for the killer second goal.

Almond drilled a beautiful ball into the box which Sean Coles took first time before back-heading to Alex Woodfine, who stroked the ball past the keeper. It was a fantastic team goal and summed up the spirit within the side.

Thame saw out the remaining 10 minutes to left the cup and start the celebrations.
