LANGLEY Hornets were first formed back in 2000 and this weekend marked the return of their youth football tournament held at Marish Primary School.

Teams from all over Berkshire and Buckinghamshire, and beyond, came to participate in the five-a-side competition.

Most age groups were represented with a specific section for Under-10/11 girl’s teams to participate.

The U7 and U8 sections were non-competitive and medals were handed out to all the children who took part in matches.

The U9 section and above had groups with the top two from each going through to a cup competition, and the third and fourth placed teams entering a plate event where it was a straight knock-out.

The event was themed on Euro 2016 with the pitches named after stadia in France, and there was a separate pitch set aside for the finals to be played – Stade de France.

All the teams that participated enjoyed themselves and Langley Hornets would like to thank Marish Academy Trust for the use of their pitches and other facilities for the weekend.

Langley Hornets are currently looking for coaches and managers to run new teams, and children of all ages. They are also looking for girls in Year 6 and 7 to start a new team.
