FOOTBALL across the Royal and Slough Boroughs once again fell victim to the weather last weekend.

The freezing temperatures that wiped out the entire Southern, Combined and Hellenic programmes a fortnight ago continued to grip the area offering little hope of any action being played.

And any hope of football going ahead was extinguished on Thursday when snow fell throughout the night and into early Friday morning.

But forecasted temperatures of up to 11C this week, and an evening low of just 2C means Saturday's schedule is almost certain to get the green light.

It has not been all doom and gloom for every club with transfers aplenty, including Ashleigh James' moves from Southern Division One Central basement boys Marlow to promotion contenders Beaconsfield SYCOB.

"We have got everybody back fit and Ashleigh James comes in to join us from Marlow, he'll go straight into the squad for Saturday," Rams boss Byron Walton told the Observer.

Beaconsfield face a difficult trip to fellow play-off contenders Biggleswade Town on Saturday (3pm kick-off) before hosting fourth- placed Bedworth United the following weekend - two games that will go a long way to defining the club's fortunes this season.

"They will be two big games," Walton continued.

"Realistically they'll both need to beat us to push on and a draw in each game will not be the end of the world." Beaconsfield played out a goalless draw with Biggleswade at Holloways Park in October but were beaten 4-0 at Bedworth in September.
