ALPHA Arms Academicals FC player-boss Danny Bulman has hailed his ‘outstanding’ side after their historic cup win.

Alpha thrashed AFC Burghfield 6-0 to retain the Berks & Bucks FA Sunday Junior Cup, becoming the first ever Slough-based club to win the prestigious competition in successive years.

Bulman believes his side bossed the final on Sunday and said his beloved Alpha should cherish their incredible feat.

Speaking exclusively to the Observer, the Alpha supremo said: “It was a great day and the boys enjoyed every minute. It’s a hell of an achievement, and something we should all be really proud of.

“Everyone knows when you play county cup football teams are up for it and every round is a tough obstacle. AFC Burghfield are a good team but we went a goal ahead and then their heads dropped.” Bulman added: “I said to the boys before the game Burghfield would be wary of us and we were up for it. We knocked all the stuffing out of them with the early goal. We played a decent team but they couldn’t live with us.

“I felt a little bit sorry for them because no-one wants to get beaten 6-0 in a final but that’s football, we played them off the park in the second half.

“Dan Molloy got three goals but that’s down to the team who worked their socks off, picked up the scraps and really were up for it, they were outstanding.” The season is not over for Alpha, however, who can still win league and cup silverware, the latter more likely in the eyes of Bulman.

“We’ve got three more trophies to play for and need to pick up points in the league,” he said. “There’s still plenty to play for but we are cup specialists, that is all I can say.

“We have got a big squad who are hungry for it and have come unstuck in the league by resting players a little bit. It is out of our hands at the moment because we need Maidenhead to slip up twice.” **PICK up a copy of the Observer, out now, for all the latest sports news and action including a report from Alpha Arms verus AFC Burghfield** **FOLLOW the Observer on Twitter at @Observer_sports**
