RICHINGS Park FC assistant manager Robert Cordery says the club will give youth a chance to shine this season.
The Wellesley Avenue outfit finished in sixth place in East Berkshire Division One last year.
Speaking exclusively to the Observer, Cordery claims that was a failure because of the talent the club boasts.
And now, in a bid to remain competitive, Park will offer young players the chance to become first-team regulars.
Cordery said: “I’d have to say last season was a failure because of the talented players in our squad.
“Sixth place is not considerably low but player availability and performance consistency was a problem.
“Our ambition will be the same as always, to be competitive and for players to enjoy their football.
“We will target everything we enter. Pre-season has gone very well and fitness is looking good.
“We’re encouraged by a few of the younger players who broke into the first team last season. We would love for them to keep on improving, and step up and establishing themselves as regulars.” **PICK up a copy of the Observer, out now, for all the latest sports news and action including our exclusive East Berkshire League special** **FOLLOW the Observer on Twitter at @Observer_sports**
