TRIBUTES have been paid to a ‘caring and loving’ son after his sudden death, as fans of his beloved football club rally to remember ‘a great friend’.

Family and friends have shared their fond memories of Chris Boxall after he was found dead at his home in Windermere Way, Haymill, on Friday at the age of 34.

The huge Slough Town fan was a talented web designer who worked for Berkshire Media Group, publisher of The Observer, for 15 years. Dad Tony, speaking from the family home today (Thursday), said: “He was a gent, a great kid. You could ask him anything about football and he knew it.” He proudly talked about taking his son to his first Rebels game aged nine, and the pair have been regular match-goers ever since.

His mum Jan added: “Chris was a caring and loving son. We are so shocked.” His death has brought together the Slough Town community, with tributes posted on forums and social media. A club statement read: “Everyone associated with Slough Town Football Club is shocked and deeply saddened to hear the news. Even if people didn’t know Chris by name he was recognisable as a regular supporter at all home and away games. In addition, Chris has helped behind the scenes for many years in the development of the club website.” Chris, a former Priory and Burnham Upper school pupil, also helped set up one of the club’s first forums.

Dan Brench, speaking on behalf of Slough Town Supporters Trust, added: “Chris was a very dedicated fan, a member of the Supporters Trust, attending matches both home and away, and could be found on many of the supporters coaches.

“He was a key part of the club’s online presence including running the website and the Twitter page, and has contributed positively to the club for many years. He was a good friend to many of those who follow Slough Town.” Chris’ family said he was a computer whizz who mostly taught himself how to write code after dad Tony bought him his first computer at the age of 13.

Tina Wright, Berkshire Media Group’s operations director, worked with Chris throughout his time with the company. She said: “We are all utterly devastated to hear the sad news about Chris. I have very fond memories of his time working here and was privileged to see him progress through his career and adult life over the 15 years I worked with him. Past and present colleagues here will remember him fondly.” His funeral will be held at Slough Crematorium on Wednesday, January 7, at 3pm. **POST your memories or messages of condolence below or tweet us @Observer_sports**
