SLOUGH Town FC bowed out of the FA Trophy after a 3-2 defeat at Merthyr Town last night (Tuesday).

The Rebels were held to a 1-1 draw by the Welsh club in the original second qualifying round tie at Holloways Park on Saturday.

Slough were denied the services of a number of players through injury and unavailability for the midweek replay at Pennydarren Park.

However, they did take the lead on 35 minutes when Jake Parsons applied the finish to a smart corner routine.

Southern Division One South & West club Merthyr turned the game on its head with two quick-fire goals in the second-half.

Kayne McLaggon levelled the scores in the 48th minutes and then Kerry Morgan made it 2-1 moments later.

The home side were making their possession and pressure count, and Ian Traylor secured the tie on the hour mark.

Billy Jeffreys pulled a goal back on 90 minutes but it was not enough to force extra time and Slough are out of the competition.

The Rebels return to Southern Premier Division action this Saturday when Hitchin Town visit Holloways Park (3pm ko).

Burnham FC are also out of the FA Trophy after a gut-wrenching 5-4 penalty shoot-out defeat against Weymouth.

The two Southern Premier sides drew 0-0 in Weymouth on Saturday, and the tie was still goalless after 120 minutes of football at The Gore.

However, the visitors held their nerve during the shoot-out to progress whilst The Blues are left to rue what might have been.

Burnham welcome Weymouth to The Gore for the second time in five days on Saturday (3pm ko), this time in a league fixture.

Maidenhead United set up a Berks & Bucks Semi-final date with Chesham United after a 5-4 penalty shoot-out win at Hungerford Town.

The Magpies were held to a 2-2 draw by Hungerford after normal time, and there were no further goals in the additional 30 minute period.

Former Bracknell Town star Sam Barratt cancelled out an early own-goal to ensure the visitors went into half-time all square at Bulpit Lane.

Barratt scored again in the second period though lower league Hungerford came back when Mark Draycott netted from the penalty spot.

The last eight tie eventually went to penalty kicks where Maidenhead held their nerve and now look forward to a home semi-final tie against Chesham.
