THE LYNCHPIN are on course to retain the Slough Town Senior Cup after a 7-2 win against Burnham Beeches Seniors on Saturday.

The Pin knew that lower-league Burnham were not to be taken lightly as several of their players starred for Orchard Park Rangers last season.

After a frantic opening to the quarter-final tie, the hosts began to find their rhythm and Henry Wenman kept his composure to slot home from 18-yards.

The Pin found themselves three goals ahead at half-time and eventually ran out comfortable winners with Wenman scoring four.

Levi Thackeray also helped himself to a hat-trick, though the whole team performed well as the holders impressed.

Windsor FC Reserves were left to rue missed chances in a 1-1 draw at Eton Wick in the Premier Division.

The visitors travelled with a host of first team players including Carl Dennison, Lewis Leonetti, Umar Riaz, George Gould and Kane Jones.

Windsor started well and made a breakthrough midway through the first-half when Riaz found Nabil Douhi, who finished into the bottom corner.

The visiting side kept up the pressure in the second period, but Eton levelled the scores with a smart finish past Dennison.

Langley FC signed off for Christmas with a 4-2 win away at Chalvey (WMC) Sports on Saturday.

Dean Papali and Paul Cisero both scored twice for Langley, whilst Lawrie Toombs bagged a brace for Chalvey.

Langley boss Peter Phillips, said: “It was a thoroughly deserved but hard-fought win, and the guys played well as a team.

“We went one down to a dubious penalty before half-time and the lads received a rollicking at the break.

“We came out fighting in the second-half and scored three times in five minutes.

“It was a massive three points and I am delighted to sign off with a win. I am happy to go into Christmas with the league in our hands, and we’re in a cup semi-final.” Falcons FC suffered a second consecutive 5-3 defeat on Saturday, this time against Braybrooke in Division Three.

The home side thought they had taken the lead through Sorin Petrescu but the goal was ruled out for offside.

The depleted Falcons side soon found themselves three goals behind early in the first-half because of poor goalkeeping.

The hosts pulled one back when Alex Alexandria scrambled the ball home from inside the six-yard box.

Falcons were 4-1 behind before Alexandria doubled his own tally with a 25-yard strike before the interval.

Daniel Mihai gave the home side a lifeline early in the second period as he slotted home from close range.

However, they could not find an equaliser and Braybrooke scored a fifth goal late in the game to ensure victory.

Chalvey (WMC) Sports Reserves moved up to fifth position in Division Three after a 6-1 win against Phoenix Old Boys on Saturday.

Sports took a one-goal lead into the break after Carl Feasey played in James Austin, who slotted into the back of the net.

Phoenix drew level five minutes into the second-half with a well-taken goal from outside the box, which nestled in the bottom corner.

A missed penalty from Danny Gaut was not rued for too long as he dispatched a 25-yard free-kick with precision.

Gaut doubled his own tally for the match by heading home a Mark Blakely cross at the near post.

Man-of-the-match Adam Murphy finished off the goal of the game as Chalvey moved the ball out of defence and into the opposition box.

Gaut completed his hat-trick from a corner kick before Simon Fleet notched his first goal of the season.

Fleet chested down a cross from the right and lobbed the keeper, sparking scenes of celebration from the entire team.

Maidenhead Town made progress in the East Berks’ League Cup after a 2-0 third round win at Hurley on Saturday.

The visitors took the lead when Mitchell Burley whipped in a cross for the onrushing Aaron Holland to head home.

Maidenhead suffered a blow midway through the half as Mark Maclean was shown a straight red card for a mistimed tackle.

Despite the setback, the visiting side almost added a second goal when Sam Angel crashed a shot off the post.

Maidenhead did eventually double the advantage as Holland pounced on a loose ball to score in the second-half.
