TEAM spirit will be parked as members of the British rowing squads and their challengers battle to impress the national coaches this weekend.

Some exciting racing should be in store at the GB Rowing Team Senior Trials in Caversham ahead of the European Championship selections in May.

World and Olympic medallists will pit themselves against each other, and the event also provides a stage for Helen Glover and Heather Stanning to renew their Olympic partnership for the first time since London 2012.

Some of the toughest racing could be in the lightweight divisions, particularly the men’s single, where no fewer than eight 2013 World Championships medallists will race each other.

Olympic silver-winning brothers Richard and Peter Chambers were in the top three at the last trials with Windsor’s Adam Freeman-Pask, while Jonno Clegg of Maidenhead is likely to be snapping at their heels.

The men’s pair event features squad member Oliver Cook from Windsor. Sam Townsend of Reading races in the open men’s single scull while Maidenhead’s Jack Beaumont will provide stiff opposition in a talented group of emerging rowers.
