Young people from across Slough have united to create a street mural thanking NHS staff, key workers and volunteers who worked through the Covid pandemic.
The rainbow design with the words ‘Slough Together as One’ has been painted on a wall in Bath Road/London Road, Langley, by the Honda roundabout / M4 junction 5.
The project was coordinated by Cllr Madhuri Bedi (Foxborough ward) and charity Aik Saath which works with young people in Slough to promote positive social change. Young carers, volunteers, children from neighbouring areas and local scouts contributed to the design and creation of the temporary artwork.
Messages written in the scrolls along the rainbow say ‘Thank you NHS, key workers and all the volunteers who supported our community’ and ‘In memory of all those who have suffered and lost during the Covid pandemic’.
The work took place over the weekend of October 17 and 18 under the guidance of street artist Alexis Milne who has worked with the charity for other murals around the town including the knifefree campaign.

Cllr Bedi, has been working with Slough Borough Council to smarten up the grey wall blighted by graffiti and litter.
She said: “After a weekend full of design and colour, the Foxborough Mural is complete. The mural represents all we have been through in lockdown and beyond plus the exhaustive dedication of NHS staff and endless efforts of key workers and the immense support of community, voluntary and religious organisations and individuals who delivered fresh meals and other necessities to isolated, shielding and vulnerable members of the community."
Rob Deeks, chief executive of Aik Saath, said: “The project has brought together our young volunteers, young carers, scouts and local residents.
“It is really fitting that a design celebrating the togetherness of our town has been created by young people from so many different walks of life."
